Reassurance (Buffy)

Damon got out of his car and walked up to Buffy's place. He had a lot on his mind and it had been weighing on him. The whole Angel thing was getting to him, despite having talked to Spike. He wasn't too sure how to bring it up to Buffy or to let the whole situation go, but this was getting to him. He sighed and knocked on the door, waiting for a response.

Buffy had just taken a shower and was in her pajamas when she answered the door. She smiled, seeing Damon there. "Hey...well this is a surprise."

"Am I interrupting anything?" He asked.

She shook her head. "Nope...not at all. Come on in."

She shut the door and looked at him curiously. "What's up?"

"Why does something have to be up?" He asked in return.

"Umm...no reason...it's sort of how I talk to people, like "hey what's up?" or "What's up? How you doing?" Stuff like that...is something up for real?" she asked a bit taken aback.

Damon scratched his head and sighed. "We need to talk."

She didn't like the way that sounded. "Uh...okay..." she said as she led him to her couch and they sat down. "What did we need to talk about?"

"This whole Angel thing." Damon said, after he took a seat. "Do you feel anything for him?"

"Angel?" she asked, confused. "He's my first love...a part of me will always love him...like you with Katharine or Elena, I guess would be the analogy. But...I'm not in love with him anymore, if that makes any sense."

"There's a difference between your case and mine. There isn't that whole...connection thing or whatever that is between you two."

"Connection?" she asked, arching her eyebrow. "The only connection is...is that I would be the one to unleash the evil that is Angelus back into the world. Damon...I want you...I want to be with you. Isn't that good enough?"

Damon studied Buffy for a moment before he replied. "Are you being serious right now? Cause I can't do this if that Angel guy is going to pop up and woo you or something."

"I am being serious, Damon...Angel and I had our time...and I'll always be grateful to him for any help he's ever given me." she said, taking his hand in hers. "But...I choose you...no one is going to woo me away."

"If anything, it'd just be awkward between Angel and me..." she said, lacing their fingers together and kissed the back of his hand. "I wanna be with you...that is...if you still want me with you."
