A Glimpse Into What Could Have Been (Buffy/Damon)

[Buffy Summers]

Buffy was out on patrol in the cemetery. Once she did a sweep, she'd head out to see Damon. But alas, it wouldn't be a quiet night tonight. She heard something from a little bit away from her and she followed it. A new vampire had just come up. She sighed.

"Really? Oh well...it'll be quick and...kinda painless for you." she said as she ran and stomp kicked him in the chest to start and then the fight commenced.

Damon was out to meet Buffy, they'd agreed to meet and they'd probably head out somewhere from there.

He saw her in the distance and then saw something approach her, he was about to intrude, snap the vamps neck and leave it at that, but then he saw her...fight? He stood there baffled.

She matched the vampire move for move before finally deciding to end the fight. She punched his face hard and while he reeled for that, she pulled out her stake and got him in the perfect spot. Once he dusted, she patted herself down and started away and then saw Damon.

"Hey~" she smiled.

[Damon Salvatore]

"Holy shit..." He said in response, blinking as he he tried to process what just happened.

[Buffy Summers]

"What?" she asked, judging his facial expression. "You okay?"

[Damon Salvatore]

"Uh..I don't know..still trying to process what you just did over there."

[Buffy Summers]

"It was a routine patrol...new vamp...well...he used to be...cut my time down by like 2 minutes." she smirked.

[Damon Salvatore]

"I...but...you killed that damn thing like it was no big deal."

[Buffy Summers]

"Yes...him vampire...me slayer...kinda what I do...and I've been doing this for over 10 years now..." she explained.

"I..forget it..." He said, shaking his head.

[Buffy Summers]

"No...talk to me...what?"

[Damon Salvatore]

"It's nothing..forget it.." He said, shaking his head.

"It's not nothing." she said firmly. "Talk to me...what was it about seeing me dust a vampire that was so weird to you?"

[Damon Salvatore]

"Cause you kicked that dude's ass if it was nothing...hell...you could easily do that to me if I wasn't expecting it."

[Buffy Summers]

"Ohh...I see..." she said with a nod. "Well...I have no intention of doing so unless you deserve it...and from what I can see so far...you don't." she said pointedly. "But this is what I do...into every generation a Slayer is born. She has the power to fight the vampires and demons and forces of darkness." she said, reciting that bit she was told.

"Buffy..cut the whole Slayer preaching bullshit. You know what I mean..it's just..I don't know..it was cool to see you kick ass..but still. The same way you feel threatened by me at one point, it kind of happened to me right now."

[Buffy Summers]

Her smile faded a bit. "So...then what? You think I'm gonna turn on you one of these days?"

[Damon Salvatore]

"Possibly...I don't know..." Damon said.

"Then you don't me very well..." she said, narrowing her eyes at him.

[Damon Salvatore]

"You know it's not like that."

[Buffy Summers]

"Then what is it like? Please...explain it to me."

[Damon Salvatore]

"It freaked me out a bit, okay." He said. "Hell..I've never been with a woman before who could possibly kick my ass and kill me in my sleep."

"Not when I'm too tired from a certain someone wearing me out in bed to kill you in your sleep." she smirked.

[Damon Salvatore]

He couldn't fight the smirk that appeared on her face. "Is that a complaint I hear?"

"Hell no...but come on Damon...I'm not the type to be sneaky anyway...I fight my opponents head on and face to face."
